Gospel memory verses - BibleMinded app

Posted by Anne Witton on Tuesday, July 15, 2014 Under: App review
Recently, I've been trying to get better at memorising bits of the Bible that I can use to explain the gospel to people. Here's a simple gospel outline and 10 short Bible verses (NIV).

  • God created men and women for a relationship with him.
[John 17: 3] Now this is eternal life: that they may know you, the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom you have sent.

  • God gave us free will. We all choose to rebel against God (Sin = rebellion against God. Putting ourselves first instead of him and breaking the first commandment.)
[Romans 3: 23] All have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.

  • God is a fair judge and he can’t let us go unpunished for the things we do wrong. Sin separates us from God. We can no longer have the relationship with him that was intended.
[Romans 8: 13] If you live according to the sinful nature, you will die.
[Isaiah 59: 2] But your iniquities have separated you from your God.

  • God sent his son Jesus Christ down to earth to live with us. He died for us. Jesus took the punishment for us.
[1 Peter 3: 18] For Christ died for our sins once for all, the righteous for the unrighteous, to bring you to God
[Romans 5: 8] God demonstrated his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners. Christ died for us.

  • Jesus rose from the dead.
[Acts 1: 3] He showed himself to these men and gave many convincing proofs that he was alive.

  • Jesus is the only way to God. We need to make a personal commitment to him and accept his sacrifice on the cross. Be born again.
[John 14: 6] Jesus answered, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No-one comes to the Father except through me.”
[Romans 10: 9] If you confess with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.
[John 4: 7-9] “Those who believe in me shall not perish, but have everlasting life”
I came across the free iPhone and Android app, BibleMinded, which enables you to memorise scripture in four different ways - Flash cards, Fill in the Blank, Multiple Choice and Audio Recording - and it seems to be helping so far. Feel free to hold me accountable and test me when you next see me!
