November news update and prayer requests

It's been another really busy month. The big news on the house front is that - after a number of delays - we finally exchanged contracts and got the keys last Friday! I'm really excited about getting our ministry house and so grateful to God for his provision. I must admit that I'm feeling exhausted at the moment as it's quite stressful dealing with solicitors, financial advisors, banks, removal companies, utilities, insurance companies etc. and trying to make sure that everything is sorted out.

Abby is still recovering from her surgery so is not able to lift anything, so we need to try and be careful. We also need to get some building work done and try and get hold of the extra furniture that we need, so the next few weeks are going to be pretty full-on. Part of me feels like climbing into a cupboard until it's all sorted out and re-emerging in January! Once the building work has been completed and we're settled in, we want to have people round to pray and help us commission the house for ministry. We will also be having various house-warming events, so look out for details of those!

In other news, at the start of October I was down in Oswestry for the annual True Freedom Trust conference.  I really enjoyed the weekend and found it a huge encouragement. The teaching on the Sermon on the Mount was great and has really inspired me (see this blog post), and it was brilliant to enjoy fellowship and fun together.

I've been working hard on building up my Ministry Partnership team and have now got 88% of my financial support, as well as a team of faithful prayer warriors for whom I'm very thankful! I'm on schedule to start full-time on campus in the new year which will allow time for the house move and a short retreat time before Christmas.

I have been involved with some activities on campus so that I stay connected with the students and the rest of the Agapé team. The two most recent Thursday night Hubs have been on resolving conflict and nurturing faith. It's great to see such a diversity of people coming along to these talks and discussions, and it's particularly encouraging that a number of Muslim students have been engaging with Student Life and being blessed by the community.

Please would you pray for -
  • The students who are regularly attending the Hub and other Student Life events, especially the Muslim students who are coming along.
  • The Student Life leaders - Michael, Sarah, Ben, Miriam and Robbie at Northumbria and Mike, James and Antonio at Newcastle. That God will help them grow in their faith and build their leadership skills.
  • That everything will go smoothly with the house move and that our new home will become a real mission hub.
  • That I won't worry about anything, but learn to trust more deeply in God and know his peace at this very busy time.
Thank you so much for your prayers, generous giving, friendship and encouragement. It's a privilege to be serving God alongside you.
